L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer

I picked up the L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer (what is it with these products and long names?!) quite a while a go, I think maybe December or something but never really got on well with it. However, I tried it again a few weeks ago and instantly loved it, funny how that happens, eh?

It is quite a small pot for the price, but you do tend to only need a small amount for your face as it spreads thinly quite easily. The primer is a strange texture, quite hard to describe, but from what I can tell it’s your typical primer texture.

As I said, this goes on nicely and doesn’t make your skin feel too oily or slippery which were my initial concerns and it works. It most definitely works. In this recent hot weather, this primer has been a god-send, helping my makeup last all day, helping me feel confident and not having to worry about dashing to the loo to top up my face! I did notice that it evened out my skintone a little bit but as that’s not my main use, I wasn’t too fussed about whether it intiallys makes much difference or not.

What are your favourite primers?

Available from Boots for £14.29 for 15ml.

Weekend Update

Just a little update with my goings on recently! I started a fantastic new job the other week, in the career that I’ve been pursuing for the past 18months so I’ve been just a little bit preoccupied with that. It’s challenging, I’m learning lots and so far going incredibly well and now my weekdays are obviously taken up with work, I’m definitely been making the most of the weekends. Here’s a little update of what I did this weekend, apart from watching the Olympics which has been incredible!

Saturday morning started with a wonderful surprise from the Boyfriend of a Sunflower bouquet. They’re absolutely gorgeous and was so big they have taken up 3 vases!

I also picked up this dainty little bracelet from a local gift shop (Office Dog) after having my eye on them for a while.

The evening consisted of an amazing pub dinner of burger and chips followed by a salted caramel and chocolate tart. The pub was showing the Olympics, so we all saw Jessica Ennis win the heptathlon – the whole pub was chanting her name, the atmosphere was incredible!

On Sunday we wandered down to Covent Garden, which wasn’t too busy surprisingly and was full of people wearing Union Flags and Team GB tops, making me feel very proud to be British!

As always, we popped in to Ladurée for a delicious cake and tea (I had a Plaisir Sucré pastry and the Mélange Ladurée blend tea) and later picked up Macarons in Salted Caramel, Pistachio and Vanilla and their blend of tea for a little treat at home!

All in all, a pretty good weekend I must say! How was everyone elses?

Forever 21 Rhinestoned Bow Ring

It may have been open for a year or so, but it was only a couple of weeks ago that I finally took a proper look around Forever 21 in Oxford Street. I’ve heard mixed things in the past about Forever 21 and have to say I was a little put off because of how ‘young’ it feels – I’m only 23 and I felt old in there!

However, I was impressed by their accessories department. There are jewels and pearls galore for only a few pounds, it’s a very dangerous place to be I must say. After much self-resistance, I came away with only one item, a rather lovely black rhinestone bow ring.

And how much was this little beauty? A mere £3.15! It’s perfect for adding a quirk to an outfit to make it less serious looking, I’ll definitely be heading back for more accessories.

Unfortunately I can’t find the black version online, but here’s the silver one and there’s a gold version also.

Boots Health & Beauty Magazine

Tags

The Boots Health & Beauty Magazine is a recent discovery of mine – I don’t tend to pick up store magazines as some you have to pay for and generally aren’t much of interest to me, but picking the Boots magazine up on a whim revealed a handy little mag indeed.

The magazine does cost £1, but if you’re an Advantage Card holder (and who isn’t these days?!) it’s free, hurrah. It contains all your beauty and health needs, with little articles and recommendations and also showing up-coming products too (Hello, Revlon PhotoReady blush!). And the best thing about this little magazine? It has coupons! Granted, there’s not coupons you’d like every month, but I’ve found some great ones, such as bonus 150 points with any 17 purchase, £2 off Philosophy products, etc. They’re definitely worth keeping an eye out for.
